So we have hit the end of the week and the journey is well and truly in full swing now!
An eventful Sunday morning had...
A comfortable 5KM run which felt really good (Got to start somewhere) followed by a trek with my beautiful wife up the hill, with so much beauty on my doorstep it doesn't take much to get you out the front door feeling inspired!

As a good friend once said, food for the sole!
So today was planned as a HIT day.
H: Hill - (Dumyat) Done
I: Ice Bath - Next on my list
T: Tub (Hot) - Am going to enjoy this one.

What a day!
Not in a good sense either, a day where you grit your teeth, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and remember tomorrow is a new day, with new possibilities, a fresh outlook and a brand new adventure.
Adventure! As always no matter how difficult a day is you take your positives, one positive is this bad boy arrived, GoPro now I can really get this journey in full swing!

Apologies for the radio silence this weekend, but what a weekend!
Test drove the GoPro on a training walk/hike/run up and down Dumyat Saturday, will post results later today (sorry in advance, they will get better promise) a dedicated performance although not the result for East Stirlingshire Football & Athletic Club against the team currently sitting top and then onto pick the family up in preparation for my not so little mans debut in the boxing ring!
Can I just say that I was one proud dad yesterday, not just for getting in the ring and putting in such a performance, but the dedication, sacrifice and understanding in the weeks/months leading up to the fight shown and adjustments made where needed, always learning, always progressing, always developing.
So a mothers day round the ring for the incredible ladies in my life!
A fantastic debut show as well for Doghouse Gym, superb day and thank you for all the hard work and guidance that has gone into Sonny, some superb boxers coming out of the gym!
Another week started! Time to turn it up a notch!

Don't judge
Testing out the new GoPro over the weekend, a lot of work required on my video and editing skills, but they will get better, promise!
Now the test is over I need to get my big boy pants on and get myself in front of the camera!

A #milestone achieved, a #fear overcome, I have got myself in front of a camera!
Anyone that knows me will know what a big step this is! Always learning, always pushing, getting out my comfort zone!
This is a small introduction explaining what The Story, The Journey is, an introduction to me (Simon Dickerson) and explanation to what we are trying to achieve.
This will get better as #confidence grows, the fear gets pushed to one side and mind fog clears! (and i learn to use the GoPro properly)
I have got so much I missed on this but nerves got the better of me, we will get there thou.

Just realised, I talk about progress and I am yet to post anything on a running sense!
So....
Here is yesterdays run, I am now nearly 4 weeks into lacing up my running trainers for the first time in years!
Yes I am fully aware it is a long way of 215 miles and there is a long way to go but the last 4 weeks is about dropping the weight and getting miles in the legs, will be upping the distance soon!
Currently knocking out 5KM most days with a 10KM once a week.
5KM in under (just) 26 minutes is not to bad a start!

A moment of #clarity and of #realisation
This week, month, YTD, has been, how should I put it? A #challenge (The most understated comment I have ever made)
Today has been no different, with more plates spinning than a clown at a circus, a head full of sawdust and with more questions than answers I needed to clear my head! It got to midday and that was it! I need some fresh air!
Route? - Don't Care!
Weather? - Will find out when I get outside!
Time? - I told you midday!
Eat? - On a fasting diet!
Distance? - Just run!
Then came the clarity, "fail to prepare, prepare to fail"
Stepped outside, poring with rain, had been raining all morning, first 2 miles where footpath, quick(ish) around 8:20min miles, then it started to unravel, the direction I was heading meant I needed to cross a busy main road, ⌚1min, 2min, 3min, finally across, then down a beautiful single track road, there is a farm shop/cafe half way down this road, what is the time again? 🫣 Peek time! Car, step to one side, car step to one side (you get the picture) right time to beat the traffic, lets hit the trail, ahh what trainers you wearing? slip, slide, desperate to keep balance!
I have 2 options:
1: Grass verge (unknown) but overhanging brambles and branches.
2: Mud I can barley stand up on.
Either way its going to hurt but it is a situation I have put myself in due to my failed preparation and my hot head approach and it is me that has to push on through, head down.
Lessons to be learnt and then with the gate in site and the concrete in view, that is when I fell arse over tit! Its not over until its over, never take your eye of the ball.
All that and I still failed to hit 10KM, useless!
So a number of lessons taken from that jog, walk, run.
The biggest being if I hadn't gone on that run, I would have carried all that frustration and negativity into my afternoon, but now I can look back on my 1:08:59 moments and laugh! Let’s hope I can do the same once this challenging period has come to an #end
